The COVID-19 pandemic and the broadband requirements for teachers’ and students’ ability to carry out remote teaching and learning from home exposed the thousands of Nebraska households that had no internet or a lack of internet. This problem is not easily solved, but there are steps that school districts can take to ensure that every staff and student household is connected with internet.
Attend this Part 1 session to learn about how the Nebraska Dept of Education is working with ESUs and school districts to collect student internet and device data, and mapping it to determine specific areas of greatest need. We’ll discuss how use the maps to find service provider options and how to maximize the available federal funding to accomplish the district’s connectivity needs and goals.
